Jacob Greiner had six goals and two assists and Joe Carozza scored four goals as host West Chester East outscored Avon Grove, 16-12, tonight in a key Ches-Mont League boys’ lacrosse game.

East (12-2 overall) improved to 10-1 in the league and put itself in position to win the title outright even though it is tied atop the standings in the loss column with both three-time defending champion Avon Grove (9-1 league) and Bishop Shanahan (8-1 league). The league rules call for ties to be broken by head-to-head play and East also toppled Shanahan.

East can win the crown outright by downing host Henderson Tuesday in its league finale. That game has extra meaning beacuse it’s the “Drew Bauer City Championship Memorial Game” and West Chester East has never won it in the 7 years it’s been played.

Jack Macanally posted 10 saves and Rocco Grello added two goals and two assists for the Vikings. Jesse Roth has two goals and an assist.

For Avon Grove (10-3), Mike Russo and Jackson Muller each had three goals and one assist while Zach Augustine had two goals and three assists. James Chastain scored twice.

East is searching for its first league crown since 2005 when it shared the title with Downingtown East.

Ursinus stuns top-seeded F&M, 12-11, to advance to Centennial Conference finals

From Press Release

They just keep finding a way.

The Ursinus College men’s lacrosse team’s incredible season will see another chapter after the Bears came back from several multi-goal deficits to knock off top-seeded and host Franklin & Marshall, 12-11, Wednesday and punch their ticket to the Centennial Conference championship game.

Junior Ben Minardi (Perkiomen Valley) scored with 21 seconds remaining to put the finishing touches on another thrilling victory over the Diplomats and sent Ursinus into a Saturday showdown at No. 2 Gettysburg with a conference title on the line. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Battlefield. Gettysburg defeated Dickinson, 15-13.

Much like the regular-season meeting, a 16-15 overtime barn-burner, Ursinus (12-3) dug itself a big early hole before fighting all the way back and dealing the Diplomats a devastating late blow.

The Bears trailed 6-2 midway through the second quarter but continued to chip away and eventually took their first lead with 14:20 to play. A blocked shot on an F&M extra-man chance led to a breakout in transition, and junior Bobby McClure (Haverford High) found a cutting Hakan Atillasoy (Harriton) for a top-shelf shot and a 9-8 edge.

Atillasoy’s go-ahead marker came after a quick-strike sequence late in the third quarter to tie it. The sophomore scored unassisted on the man-advantage with 3:42 to play, and Brian Casey (Haverford School) won the ensuing faceoff before dishing ahead to McClure for a snap shot that made it 8-8 just seven seconds later.

The Diplomats, whose only conference setback came at the hands of the Bears, came firing back with three consecutive goals in a span of less than three minutes to wrest control back with an 11-9 upper hand.

The Bears took advantage of a late mistake by the hosts, who still had a two-goal lead and possession with under five minutes remaining before a defenseman threw the ball away. The loose ball was scooped up by Atillasoy, who quickly passed over to junior Sam Mutz (Strath Haven) for a bullet shot into the top part of the net with 4:29 remaining.

F&M had a golden opportunity to restore a two-goal lead, but senior goalie Nick Kirk stoned Blake Target (Penn Charter) right on the doorstep with four minutes remaining. The teams traded empty possessions before another Diplomats turnover gave the Bears an opening. Atillasoy took it, working through a double team to fire a low shot past F&M goalie Luke Mutterer with eight on the shot clock and 58 seconds on the game clock.

Senior Casey, who dominated the faceoff X all night, won the ensuing draw to set up a final possession. With the Diplomats keying on Ursinus stars Atillasoy and McClure, Minari found space to operate and slung another low shot into the back of the cage with 21 ticks remaining.

Casey eliminated any last hope for the Diplomats by winning his 21st faceoff in 25 attempts, allowing the Bears to run out the clock and book their first trip to the conference championship since back-to-back appearances in 2015 and 2016.

Atillasoy and McClure carried the load offensively, each supplying four goals and two assists to keep Ursinus within striking distance. Minardi had two goals, and Mutz added a goal and an assist. Julian Castilleja (Radnor) had 3 groundballs.

Casey was sensational, winning 84 percent at X and racking up 12 ground balls in addition to an assist. Kirk made nine of his 17 saves in the second half, several of them on point-blank opportunities for the foes.

Kevin Mollihan had five goals and A.J. Rigsby added four for F&M, which held a 46-35 advantage in shots and won the turnover battle by 11 (24-13) but was undone by Casey’s brilliance in the circle.

The latest nail-biting win for the Bears, their third one-goal victory of the season, sets up a date with a familiar nemesis. Ursinus has never defeated Gettysburg, which took down the Bears in both the 2015 and 2016 CC championships. Now, the Bears get a golden opportunity to change that inauspicious history – and what more could they ask for?

From Press Release

A historic nine University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse players have been named All-Ivy as voted on by the Ivy League’s head coaches.

Leading the way is freshman Sam Handley who was a unanimous selection as Ivy League Rookie of the Year. He is the fourth Quaker to earn Rookie of the Year honors, and the first since Reed Junkin and Simon Mathias shared the award in 2016.

Penn’s Sam Handley

Notes To Know…
Nine overall All-Ivy selections are the most in program history.
Four first-team All-Ivy selections ties the 1984 team for most in program history.

A trio of Quakers earned second-team All-Ivy nods. Senior Simon Mathias earned his fourth career All-Ivy selection and his third consecutive second team nod. He was joined by juniors Adam Goldner (Malvern Prep) and Kyle Gallagher.

Junior defender Kyle Thornton and freshman long-stick midfielder BJ Farrare earned spots on the honorable mention All-Ivy team.

From Press Releases

Gwynedd Mercy advanced to the Atlantic East Men’s Lacrosse Championship with its 10-8 semifinal victory over visiting Marymount Wednesday night in front of a raucous home crowd.

The second-seeded Griffins will now head to top-seeded Cabrini for the Atlantic East Title this Saturday at 1 p.m.. The Cavaliers downed fourth-seeded Neumann, 25-4, in the evening’s other semifinal.

Three goals each from brothers Jordan Dzierzgowski (Washington twp-NJ) and Jacob Dzierzgowski (Washington Twp-NJ) plus two scored from Ryan Simpson (Upper Darby). Nick Freda (Upper merion) and Lucas Gray (Harry S Truman) also tallied for GMercyU, who will be making its fifth appearance in a conference championship game. Jacob also added three assists to lead all scorers with a game-high six points while Jordan tallied a pair of man-up goals.

Gwynedd never trailed in the game, but used a three-goal burst starting late in the third quarter to break a 5-5 tie. The Saints scored twice in the final minute of regulation to make things interesting, but the Griffins were able to cement their spot in the title game.

Clark Akers, Riley Scales, and Matthew Ebert each netted two goals apiece for Marymount, the third seed.

Leading 3-1 after the first and 5-3 at the half, GMercyU saw the Saints get a man-down goal from Ebert and a score from Scales with 3:45 left in the third. Jacob Dzierzgowski quickly turned the tide scoring just 15 seconds later to take the lead for good. After a faceoff win from Nick Heiler (Lansdale Catholic), Dzierzgowski zinged in his second of the night for a 6-5 edge.

Gray and Simpson scored 15 seconds apart early in the fourth to give the Griffins a three-goal cushion. Later in the stanza Jacob set up Jordan for the team’s third man-up goal followed by a tally from Jacob to make it 10-6. The Saints did not go out quietly, getting a pair of goals from Akers.

Cabrini 25, Neumann 4

The No. 6 Cabrini men’s lacrosse team was in full postseason mode Wednesday at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the Blue and White cruised to a 25-4 win over Neumann in the semifinal round of the Atlantic East Conference tournament.

With the win, the Cavaliers (16-2) will play for a 19th consecutive conference title on Saturday, when they host Gwynedd Mercy (10-5) in the inaugural conference championship game.

Saturday will mark the second consecutive championship meeting for the Cavaliers and Griffiths and the fifth meeting all-time.

Cabrini 25, Neumann 4

Thirteen Cavaliers marked the scoring column as the Blue and White paired 60 shots and just nine turnovers. Senior Jordan Krug (Cherokee-NJ) led the way with five goals and three assists, giving him 208 career goals, moving into second place on the program’s all-time list.

Sophomores Kyle Tucker and Griffin Shira added three goals and two assists each, while seniors Bill Morgan (Marple Newtown) and Sean Wagner joined juniors Mike Gerzabek (Springfield-Delco) and Ty Moschella (Garnet Valley) added two goals each. Junior Tyler Kostack (Marple Newtown) notched three assists. Senior Nick LaBanca added his first goal of the campaign.

The Cavaliers also controlled the faceoff spot, claiming 17 of the 32 draws against the team with the nation’s top faceoff win percentage. Sophomore Luke McCallion (Haverford High) went 10-18, while freshman Jake Huey (Marple Newtown) went 7-8.

Sophomore Eric Conlon put the Knights ahead at the 10:31 mark, then it was all Cavaliers. Krug got the Blue and White on the board with three consecutive goals in a span of 2:20, as Cabrini reeled off 14 unanswered goals to build a 14-1 lead at the half.

Conlon finished the day with two goals, while freshman Brett McLaughlin (Interboro) secured seven ground balls. Junior goaltender Brendan Risley (Ridley) suffered the loss despite 15 saves in 34 minutes of work.

The Griffins will face the Cavaliers for the seventh time in the postseason, and fifth occasion in the final.

Drexel stuns top-seeded UMass to advance to CAA finals

From Press Release

Drexel raced out to a 9-2 lead and held on for a stunning 15-12 win at No. 14 UMass in the CAA Semifinals at Garber Field today.

Matt Varian scored three times and assisted on three others, while Marshal King and Collin Mailman each had hat tricks in the win. Ross Blumenthal made 11 saves, many of the spectacular variety, as the Dragons (7-7) advanced to the CAA title game for the first time since 2014. UMass dropped to 10-5 with the loss.

Drexel will play the Delaware-Towson winner Saturday at Amherst at 1 p.m.

Drexel got off to a great start early despite losing all seven face offs in the first quarter. Mailman set the tone with a rocket just 50 seconds into the game. After the Minutemen tied it on a controversial goal that appeared to just hit the post, the Dragons rattled off four straight goals to take the lead for good. Varian had a huge first quarter, scoring twice and assisting on two others. King also had a big impact in the early going. He scored the fourth goal and then assisted on Jack Mulcahy’s score with 5:05 left in the second.

Devin Spencer ended a UMass drought of almost 17 minutes when he cut the deficit to 5-2 four minutes into the second. However, Drexel responded by four straight to push the lead to 9-2. Varian, Mailman and Nick Fox each scored 6-on-6 and the Dragons picked up their first man-up goal of the game when Varian found Chris McLallen. The Minutemen were able to score the final two goals of the half to trim the lead to 9-4.

UMass came out firing in the third and tried to get the momentum back after a Matt Soran man-up score put Drexel up by six. Charlie O’Brien and Spencer scored just 29 seconds apart. Reid Bowering put a damper on that momentarily when he scored the 99th goal of his career.

That was short lived as Billy Philpott and Spencer beat Blumenthal in a span of 65 seconds and all of a sudden it was 11-8. The King and Varian connection put an end to that run with an even strength goal with 3:32 to go in the third to extend the lead to four.

Perhaps the biggest play of the game came a few minutes later. In the final seconds of the quarter, Drexel committed a turnover near midfield. The Minutemen got the ball to Chris Connelly, one of the top offensive players in the league. He broke in alone but Blumenthal stuffed him as he tried to go high, and the Dragons were able to take that four-goal lead to the fourth.

In the final quarter, Sean Quinn gave the Dragons an unexpected goal. The defender raced up the middle and scored for the first time this season. UMass answered to cut it to four, but they weren’t able to get it down to a three-goal lead until late. Mailman and King sandwiched goals around two UMass man-up scores.

UMass got aggressive on Drexel face-off man Jimmeh Koita with just under six minutes to go and had a player sit in the box for 90 seconds. Drexel milked the clock and the Minutemen were unable to get the deficit down to three until Jeff Trainor scored his 24th of the year with 3:43 to play. The Minutemen took a key one minute penalty for a slash on the ensuing draw and Drexel held UMass off the board the rest of the way to pick up the win and advance to Saturday.

Koita had a big second half after a tough first quarter. He won 14 of his final 23 draws and won eight of 15 in the second half as UMass was trying to mount a comeback. He also had eight ground balls.

Varian’s six points tied a Drexel CAA Tournament record, set by Robert Church back in 2012. King, who missed the first UMass game, had two assists to go with his hat trick and finished with five points. All six starters on attack and in the midfield had at least one goal for Drexel. Blumenthal turned aside 11 shots, many from close range, to earn the win.

Nick Fox (Ridley) had a goal and an assist and Jack Mulcahy (Downingtown East) scored once for Drexel.

Amherst’s Wolf (Lower Merion) repeats as NESCAC Player of the Year

From Press Release

Amherst senior captain Evan Wolf (Lower Merion) captured the NESCAC’s top prize and was named the NESCAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

In addition to his Player of the Year selection, Wolf lands on the All-NESCAC First Team alongside Matt Solberg ’20, Tamer Sullivan ’21 and Jimmy McAfee (Germantown Academy) ’20, while Colin Minicus ’20 and Rod Castro (Radnor) ’20 earned Second Team distinction.

Voted on by coaches across the conference, Wolf is the first student-athlete to capture back-to-back NESCAC Player of the Year nods since DJ Hessler of Tufts did so in 2010 and 2011, becomes the first-ever Amherst player to earn two Player of the Year Selections and remains the third Mammoth in the history of the program to earn the honor (Quinn Moroney ’16 in 2015 & Derek Cherney ’07 in 2007).

An instrumental component to the third ranked scoring offense in the country (19.00), Wolf clinches his second straight First Team selection and third All-NESCAC nod overall after starting all 16 games for Amherst en route to leading the league in goals (62) and points (94) while ranking sixth in the conference in assists (32). In addition to 27 ground ball pickups and seven caused turnovers, the attackman’s 5.88 points per game average is tied for sixth in all of Division III, while his 3.88 goals per game average ranks 12th in the nation.

Earning back-to-back All-League selections, McAfee is once again the First Team’s short stick midfielder after another strong all-around season. Starting all 15 games he has appeared in, the Perrineville, N.J. ranks third on the team in ground balls with 41 and has caused nine turnovers in addition to potting eight goals and dishing out seven helpers for 15 points.

Earning his first All-NESCAC honor as a formidable power for Amherst on defense, Castro lands on the Second Team after a breakout junior campaign. The driving force behind a Mammoths team that ranks 10th in the country in caused turnovers per game (13.38), Castro has forced a team-leading 31 turnovers to rank second in the NESCAC and 55th in the country in caused turnovers per game (2.21). Seeing action in 14 games this spring, the Bryn Mawr, Pa. native has also posted 36 ground balls pickups and has dished out an assist as an anchor on the backline.

The Amherst men’s lacrosse team, ranked number five in the nation in the latest USILA Coaches poll, returns to action this weekend when they battle third-seeded Williams on Saturday, May 4 in the NESCAC Semifinals as the conference’s No. 4 seed. Opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. on the campus of top-seeded Tufts.

From Press Release

The No. 1 Penn State men’s lacrosse team advanced to the Big Ten Tournament Final with a 18-6 victory over No. 4 seed Rutgers on Thursday evening in HighPoint.Com Stadium on the University of Rutgers campus.

Penn State moves to 13-1 on the year, setting a new program record for wins in a single season. The win over Rutgers also marks the first postseason win for the Blue & White.

With the win, Penn State advances to the Big Ten Tournament Final at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening at HighPoint.Com Stadium against the winner of the second semifinal between Johns Hopkins and Maryland.

Penn State started slow in the first quarter, going 3-2 with the host, but over the second and third quarters the Nittany Lions combined for 12 goals to take a healthy lead that they maintained throughout the game.

Along with the Nittany Lions offensive out-put, Penn State held Rutgers scoreless in the second quarter and the starting unit allowed just four goals during its time on the field.

Penn State saw redshirt-junior Grant Ament (Haverford School) lead the offense with seven points, scoring a tied-season high four goals and dishing out three assists. Ament’s seven points set a new high in a Big Ten Tournament game by the Nittany Lions, as was his three assists. Ament is now at 95 points on the season, which is a Big Ten single season record.

Freshman TJ Malone (Haverford School) added four goals, while junior Mac O’Keefe added four points with three goals and a helper.

O’Keefe is now at 54 goals on the season, which sets the Penn State record, which O’Keefe set in 2017 with 51.

The Nittany Lions also go offensive production from seven other players. Senior Nick Spillane and sophomore Jack Kelly both tallied three-point games, Spillane with a goal and two helpers, and Kelly with two goals and an assist. Seniors Matt Donnelly (Clearview Regional-NJ) and Robby Black, as well as freshman Jack Traynor (Malvern Prep) and Brett Hobbs (Salesianum School) each added a goal. Defenseman Nick Cardile (Avon Grove) added an assist.

Penn State went 5-5 on the extra man as well, while holding Rutgers to 0-2 on its attempts.

Defensively, Penn State made a statement holding Rutgers to just six goals, well below their season average of 11.71. Cardile finished the game with a team-high two caused turnovers, adding four ground balls. Mike Aronow, Tommy Wright, Black and O’Keefe all added caused turnovers, while Chris Sabia (Haverford School) added five ground balls.

In cage, junior Colby Kneese recorded the win with 11 saves in 50:46 in cage, and senior Trevor Scollins added four saves in just over nine minutes.

From Press Releases

For the second time in program history, the University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team has advanced to the Ivy League Tournament semifinals as the No. 3 Quakers knocked off Brown, 13-12, at Columbia’s Wien Stadium.

Penn (10-3) extended its winning streak to 10 games, led by senior Tewaaraton nominee Simon Mathias who tallied seven points to lead all scorers.

Penn will meet Yale – a 15-10 winner over Cornell – in the final Sunday at noon.

The Quakers led, 8-4, at halftime but had to buckle down in the final moments as a 4-1 run for the Bears was capped by a Brown goal with 0:51 remaining in regulation to setup a one-goal game and a frantic final minute.

Richie Lenskold won the ensuing faceoff, and BJ Farrare was slashed emphatically while Penn was attempting to run out the clock to give Penn a man advantage and the ability to run out the final half-minute.

Notes To Know…
Penn will play in its second Ivy League Tournament Championship Game all-time and first since Penn won the 2014 ILT with a 7-5 win over Harvard. Penn had lost in the semifinals of the ILT in each of the last three seasons.
The Quakers have won 10 in a row, the second-longest winning streak in program history and tied for the current longest winning streak in the country alongside Penn State.
The Quakers have reached double figures in wins for the ninth time in program history.
Simon Mathias tied his career-high with seven points, scoring four times and adding three assists.
Mathias’ seven points are most in a game by a Penn player in the Ivy League Tournament.
Mathias now ranks No. 3 all-time at Penn in goals (112) and points (183).
Mathias has now scored at least one point in all 56 career games played – the second-longest active streak in Division I lacrosse. He has a goal in 33 consecutive games, tied for the longest active streak in the country.
Adam Goldner (Malvern Prep) extended his goal-scoring streak to 22 consecutive games and his Penn record for goals in a single season to 47.
Reed Junkin made 16 saves, the most in an Ivy League Tournament game by a Penn player.
Sam Handley scored three goals, setting a new Penn record for goals in a season by a freshman with 34. He surpassed John Ward who had 33 in 1995. Handley now owns the Penn freshman records for goals and points.
The Quakers have set a new program record for goals scored in a season with 196, blowing by the previous record of 188 set by the 1988 team.
Penn is now 8-0 this season when leading at halftime and 9-0 when leading after three quarters.

Lehigh edges BU, 10-9, to advance to Patriot League title game vs. Army

From Press Release

The second-seeded Lehigh men’s lacrosse team ended the third quarter on a 4-0 run to turn a two-goal deficit into a two-goal lead, and the Mountain Hawks wouldn’t look back as they downed third-seeded Boston University 10-9 on Friday evening at the Ridley Athletic Complex.

The win sends Lehigh to its second straight Patriot League Championship Game and fifth in the last eight seasons. The Mountain Hawks will face fourth-seeded Army West Point in Sunday’s title game, who upset top seed Loyola in the first semifinal.

The win marks Lehigh’s fifth straight win in the Patriot League Semifinals and second in as many years at the Ridley Athletic Complex, both one-goal victories. A balanced effort saw three Mountain Hawks score two goals, led by senior Lucas Spence’s (Springfield-Delco) two goals and two assists.

Classmate Craig Chick was stellar, tallying six groundballs and three caused turnovers, moving to 157 in his career – just one from tying and two from breaking the all-time NCAA record. He also played a big part in shutting down Boston University leading scorer Chris Gray, who had just a goal and two assists after entering the day with a nation’s leading and Patriot League record 108 points.

“I thought we played great on defense,” said Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese. “Craig Chick and Matt Rimol in particular were two seniors who we challenged before the game and said we’re going to let you guys get after them a little bit. We’re going to really rely on you and the rest of your senior class.

“The guys who were on the field and the seniors who weren’t due to injury, Bouhall and Pettit in particular, did a great job of leading the way. It came down to defense and overall toughness. We showed that grit we’ve been lacking a little bit in April. I’m glad it came back, because it earned us another game [on Sunday].”

Senior Matt Rimol covered and helped contain Terriers’ leading goal scorer James Burr. He entered with 54 goals on the season, but had just two Friday night. Freshman defenseman Patrick McIlroy made his first-career start, posting two groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Along with Spence, senior Tristan Rai and junior Ryan Klose each scored twice as well. Junior Crew Cintron and freshman Tommy Schelling each had a goal and assist.

Junior Conor Gaffney (Lenape) was spectacular facing off, winning 15-of-22 with 11 groundballs, while scoring his second-career goal. In the process, he moved to 137 on the season and became the Patriot League all-time leader for a single season, passing Robert Grabher of Colgate (132).

The Terriers jumped out to a 1-0 lead, which carried late into the first quarter. It could have been larger, but sophomore goaltender James Spence (Springfield-Delco) was spectacular, stopping 7-of-8 shots sent his way over the first 15 minutes. The Mountain Hawks took advantage, as Rai and Cintron scored at 3:14 and 1:03 to give Lehigh a 2-1 lead after one quarter of play. The Cintron goal came on a tremendous pass from Spence, who found the junior in stride for the finish.

The Mountain Hawks’ lead reached two at 3-1 then 4-2, the Terriers scored three straight to reopen a 5-4 lead, but Gaffney scored just six seconds later off a faceoff to even the score at 5-5 at the half.

The Terriers began the second half with two goals in the first 2:08, but Lehigh had an answer. The Mountain Hawks scored the final four goals of the stanza, from Rai, Klose, Spence and senior Mickey Fitzpatrick (on a stellar feed from junior Christian McHugh), to give Lehigh a 9-7 edge heading into the fourth quarter.

Boston University snapped a nearly 15-minute scoreless drought early in the frame, but Schelling had a big answer. The Terriers pulled within 10-9 with 7:26 remaining, but that would be the final goal of the contest. In the end, Lehigh held Boston University to single-digit goals for just the fourth time this season, twice happening vs. the Mountain Hawks.

Final shots were 44-37 in favor of the Terriers while the Mountain Hawks held a 37-27 edge in groundballs. Spence finished with 11 saves, including two big fourth-quarter stops. Boston University’s Joe McSorley made 10 saves.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action in less than 48 hours when they face fourth-seeded Army West Point on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Loyola’s Ridley Athletic Complex. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, with the winner receiving the Patriot League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

“I thought the regular season vs. Army was the toughest game we’ve played all season,” said Cassese. “That’s why we won the game. You can’t bring anything else when you play Army. It’s a direct challenge – the academies’ work ethic and overall level of toughness, both physically and mentally. We’re going to lean on our seniors again to show us the way and set the standard.”

Visiting Central Bucks West battled back from an early deficit to post a crucial 8-7 Suburban One National Conference win over North Penn Friday.

The win moved the Bucks (12-2 overall) to 7-0 in the conference while the Knights slipped to 6-1. Central Bucks West can win its first-ever lacrosse title if it can win its last two games against Harry S. Truman and Pennsbury.

“This was a really nice win for us,” Central Bucks West coach Matt Coverdale said. “We fell behind 3-0 early and were down by two goals at halftime and to come back against a really strong team like North Penn was great to see. Just a good all-around effort from everyone.”

Christian Kunkel and Jake Ojert each had two goals for the Bucks while Erik Ojert (one assist), David Ross (one assist), Jake Lang and Conor Albrecht had one goal apiece.

Jeff Woosnam had two assists in the win and Blake Ewaskey had one. Garrett Hitchens won 13-of-19 faceoffs while goalie Max Dunar made seven saves.

“Everybody played well for us,” Ewaskey, a defender, said. “It took the offense a little bit of time to get going, but once they did they did a great job.
“We knew we needed this game and we have to keep playing well because we want to win the title.”

Ewaskey assisted on a Conor Albrecht goal that capped a 5-0 third quarter tear by the Bucks, who took a 7-4 lead into the final frame. David Ross scored the go-ahead goal to break a 4-4 tie, and Lang scored to make it a 6-4 game.

Central Bucks West will travel to Harry S Truman on Tuesday and host Pennsbury on Thursday. and North Penn (9-6, 6-1) will be on the road at Council Rock South on Tuesday.
