From Press Release

Top youth teams gathered at Bucksmont Indoor Sports Center last weekend to compete in the USBOXLA Fusion Winter Classic. The Winter Classic is a box lacrosse tournament for youth ages 3rd-8th grade, governed by USBOXLA rules and USBOXLA certified referees.

“This was the last box tournament for our Fusion youth teams and it couldn’t have ended on a better note for us, both as hosts of the event and for our competing teams” said Fusion director of operations Matt McCormick “The refereeing was great, and the teams were extremely well schooled, disciplined and competitive. A lot people are still new to box and we are showcasing the game in a very responsible and exciting way”

Champions were:
* 7/8 – Fusion 2020 defeated Eagle box (NJ) in the championship game.
* 5/6 AA – Brotherly Love (PA) defeated BBL (NJ).
* 5/6 A – Dukes 2023 (PA) defeated Brotherly Love 2023
* 3/4 – Brotherly Love defeated Superstar (CN).

While BBL didn’t win a championship this time its teams were close and extremely well schooled and competitive in every division. Likewise another NJ team, Eagle box, was once again in the mix for championships throughout the day. Roughriders PA 3/4 was very talented and got visibly better throughout the day in one of their first box tournaments to date. Superstar, out of Connecticut has really committed to the box game and its younger teams are some of the most talented in the Northeast. Twist Lacrosse (PA) fought hard in the stacked 5/6AA division and found itself in a number of one goal games and its commitment to the box games is really paying off.

“The skill set learned in box lacrosse is palpable especially at the younger ages,” said Fusion founder Steven Holmes “The overwhelming feeling of all of these youth directors is that we all want more box lacrosse at the youth level as technique and proper foundation of skills is crucial to learn at a young age.

“The box lacrosse game and great coaching puts these kids in a great position to succeed indoors and out!”
