From Press Release

Behind strong performances from attackers Andrew Romagnoli (4G, 1A) and Charlie Kitchen (St. Augustine Prep, 2G, 3A) Delaware lacrosse defeated rival Villanova 13-10 Saturday at Villanova Stadium.

In the win, Delaware (4-2) also got key contributions from freshman goalie Matt Deluca (15 SV), Steve Delargy (3G) and Joe Eisele (St. Augustine Prep, 2G). Face-Off specialist Jake Hervada (Haverford School) won 10 of 26 draws and had a goal and an assist.

Villanova (1-4) received four goals from Jack Curran, and a goal a piece from six different players. Jake Froccaro won 13 of 18 face-offs and had a goal and an assist.

The Blue Hens enjoyed a 5-3 lead following the first quarter, and eventually extended that lead to 7-3 midway through the second.

Facing a four-goal deficit, the Wildcats turned up the pressure, scoring three times in the final five minutes of the quarter to slash the UD lead to 7-6 at the half.

Following the half time break, Nova made a switch at goalie replacing starter Nick Testa for Dan Willis.

In the end, the switch did provide Nova with the spark they needed, as Delaware struck for six-second half goals, and four in the fourth quarter to defeat the Wildcats 13-10.

The win is Delaware’s third consecutive victory in a row.

The Hens defeated Monmouth in dramatic fashion a week ago, and beat VMI earlier in the week.
