Four former Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts were selected in the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft, held on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks’ three senior captains from 2016, Tripp Telesco, Casey Eidenshink (La Salle) and Reid Weber (Germantown Academy) were selected in the first, second and seventh rounds, respectively, while 2013 graduate David DiMaria was drafted in the ninth round.

Telesco was Lehigh’s first selection, going ninth overall to the Denver Outlaws. A close defenseman, Telesco earned All-League recognition for a second time in 2016 after also garnering a spot on the first team in 2014. A second team All-ECAC honoree, he finished second on the Mountain Hawks in both groundballs (44) and caused turnovers (30). The 30 caused turnovers were second in the Patriot League and ninth in the nation. Telesco played in the USILA/Nike Division I-II North-South Game on May 27, along with classmates Eidenshink and Weber. Telesco ended his career with 138 groundballs and 97 caused turnovers. He will join former Lehigh teammate Noah Molnar on the Outlaws.
Eidenshink was selected in the second round (15th overall) by the Charlotte Hounds. A strong all-around student-athlete, the close defenseman was named a USILA Scholar All-American and garnered Academic All-League honors for a second straight year. Eidenshink was also named a candidate for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. A second team All-Patriot League honoree as a junior, he finished his senior campaign with 32 groundballs and nine caused turnovers, along with an assist. Eidenshink ended the season, and his career, by recording multiple groundballs in five of his last six games. He had 50 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers as a junior and ended his career with 115 groundballs and 49 caused turnovers. Last season, current Lehigh assistant coach Kevin Massa played for the Hounds, helping lead them to the playoffs.
A seventh-round pick (62nd overall), Weber went to the Ohio Machine. Last season as a senior, Weber was named a unanimous first team All-League selection, emerging as the leader of the Lehigh attack. He finished the season with a team-leading 37 goals and 51 points. Weber posted nine hat tricks as a senior to up his career total to 19. He played his best against Patriot League opponents, including three straight hat tricks against league foes: vs. Colgate, at Army West Point and at Lafayette. He also posted 22 groundballs and six caused turnovers. Weber finished his career with 104 goals and 45 assists.
After being selected in the MLL Collegiate Draft and Supplemental Draft in 2013, DiMaria was selected in the ninth round (80th overall) by Ohio. As a senior in 2013, DiMaria was named an honorable mention All-American, leading the Patriot League with a career-high 73 points behind 33 goals and 40 assists. He was picked 46th overall by Boston in the MLL collegiate draft, suiting up in two games for the Cannons in 2013. DiMaria was one of only 25 players nationally named a Tewaaraton Award nominee presented to the national player of the year. DiMaria ended his career with 205 points (88 goals, 117 assists). Both Weber and DiMaria will join former teammate Mike Noone on Ohio, who helped lead the Machine to the MLL Championship Game last season.
Lehigh features a strong core of alumni in Major League Lacrosse, including Molnar, a 2016 Major League Lacrosse Champion with the Denver Outlaws. Others who saw action this past season were Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney (Florida Launch), Matt Poillon (Florida Launch and New York Lizards) and Dylan O’Shaughnessy (New York Lizards).
