After an outstanding debut performance in the Brown and White, freshman Tristan Rai has garnered Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors, as announced on Monday. Rai tallied a game-high five goals in a 21-4 Lehigh victory over NJIT Saturday.
All five goals came in the first half, helping the Mountain Hawks take a 16-2 lead at the half. Lehigh inserted the majority of its backups for the second half. The goal has been featured on many major news outlets, including ESPN, CBS Sports, Yahoo and MSN.
Following the highlight-reed score, Rai went on to post three more goals in the Lehigh’s largest margin of victory since 1999. The 21 goals were the Mountain Hawks’ most since the 2010 season.
Senior Alex Eaton also garnered honorable mention recognition on Monday following a career-high four goals and six points.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Sunday against No. 3 Duke. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start and will be aired nationally on ESPN3.
