The Univerity of Tampa men’s lacrosse program announced its team captains for the 2016 season, receiving the honors are Matt Bilak, Riley Piper (Unionville, Team 302), Conor Whipple and Marty Heyn.

Riley Piper
Bilak brings his 53 career appearances into the 2016 campaign, with 58 career goals, 22 career assists, and 80 career points. The Penfield, N.Y. native returns to head up a seasoned group of midfielders.
Piper, who has 52 career starts under his belt, returns to the midfield after scooping up 89 groundballs during his time as a Spartan along with 15 caused turnovers.
Whipple, who enters his third season at Tampa the two-time All-American, has tallied 84 goals and 75 assists during in just 38 career appearances.
Heyn enters his senior year after coming off a junior year that was cut short due to injury just appearing four games. The Gaithersburg, Md native has made 40 career appearances at defense, where he notched 56 caused turnovers and collected 56 groundballs.
The Spartans kick off their season Sunday, February 14 against the Tusculum College Pioneers. The game is slated for a noon start time. Live stats and a live video broadcast will be available for fans to follow the action via TampaSpartans.com.
