The best 400 high school lacrosse players in the Classes of 2019, 2020 and 2021 will converge on IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., today through Monday for the first-ever National Lacrosse Federation NLF Futures at IMG event. More than 40 club programs from 24 states will be represented, including NLF founding members Baltimore Crabs, Big 4 Head Heart Hustle, Laxachusetts, Leading Edge, Long Island Express and Team 91.
Top professional players serving as NLF Futures at IMG coaches include Liam Banks, Mike Bocklet, Ryan Boyle, Joe Fletcher, Adam Ghitelman, Kyle Hartzell, Mike Chanenchuk, Scott Ratliff and Brian Spallina. Attending colleges include Boston University, Cornell, Cortland, Georgetown, Harvard, Haverford, High Point, Hofstra, Johns Hopkins, Loyola, Marquette, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Princeton, Providence, Rutgers, St. Joseph’s, Syracuse, Virginia and USC.
“The lineup of players and coaches we have is truly world-class,” said NLF Director Sean Morris. “We were blown away by the response of players interested in participating in this first-year event, and NLF can’t wait to watch as our elite coaches and pros instruct and improve these talented recruits.”
Lax Sports Network will air the Class of 2019 Championship Game on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m., and 5 p.m., EST. Ty Xanders of Recruiting Rundown will be on hand to help select the top 120 players in the Class of 2019 to advance to play at a showcase at Boys’ Latin School (Md.) June 28-30, 2016.
Additional club teams represented include LB3 and LB3 National, Trilogy, IMG, West Coast Starz, Thunder, Eclipse, Upstate Lacrosse, Dukes, FCA, MadLax, 3d National, C2C, Carolina Cannons, Monsters, Texas Mustangs, Denver Elite, Resolute, Virginia Lacrosse Club, PrimeTime, True Lacrosse, Ironhorse, Madlax, Mesa Fresh, STEPS, BBL, NH Tomahawks and more.
The NLF Futures at IMG event features two days (Jan. 16-17) of development, training and games followed by championship-format games in each class (2019, 2020, 2021) on Monday, Jan. 18.
