From Press Release

Registration is open for the All American Faceoff, featuring elite faceoff instruction run by MLL standout and former Johns Hopkins star Mike Poppleton.AA Faceoff

Based in Philadelphia, All American Faceoff specializes in making well-rounded student-athletes, great lacrosse players, and dominant faceoff men. The curriculum consists of “Faceoff Days” a perfect balance of instruction, repetition, and competition for entry level (Uprising Faceoff Days: 3rd-7th grade) to elite level (Elite Faceoff Days: 8th-12th) faceoff players.

All American Faceoff is run by Rochester Rattlers standout and US Training Team face-off specialist Mike Poppleton, the All-Time leader in face-offs (percentage) at Johns Hopkins and an assistant/face-off coach with Shipley High School and the Duke’s Lacrosse Club. Poppleton was second in NCAA face-off win percentage (.685) in 2013 when he was selected as an All-American.

Each Faceoff Day will start with a light stick-work warm-up, followed by dynamic and antagonistic stretching practiced in the MLL/NLL/D1. Afterwards, players will be put through a normal faceoff warm-up focusing on hand-eye coordination, body positioning, and basic faceoff warm-ups/techniques.

The group of players will then be gathered to go over one individual faceoff technique, followed by repetition to perfect the training technique. Faceoff techniques will include stance, primary moves, counter moves, body positioning, pulls, second move, footwork, hand position, GB play, wing play, stick-work, and shooting.

The Faceoff day will then transition over to live faceoffs in an assembly line fashion for practice and will end with a king of the hill or a faceoff game to produce a winner. Each faceoff day will conclude w/ a Q&A session which will include discussion of academic and athletic tips for college and high school preparation.

Individual player observation and instruction will occur throughout.

The first Elite Faceoff Day opens up at the Phelps School (583 Sugartown Rd, Malvern, Pennsylvania 19355) on Monday, Jan. 11 from 8:30-10pm and runs each Monday through February 22.

Other locations include Lancaster and Allentown, PA.
