The Marist men’s lacrosse team and Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson (St. Joseph’s University grad) have announced four captains for the 2016 season after a team vote. Senior Joseph Radin, junior J.D. “Our team did a fantastic job in selecting its captains for the 2016 season,” Wilkinson said. “These four players, along with their fellow upperclassmen, did a fantastic job of leading the program throughout the course of the first semester. We demanded a lot from each of our players this fall, and the commitment that these four exemplified toward the team’s success both academically and on the field, as well as through community service, was clearly evident. As a staff, we are very proud of Joe, J.D., Dillon, and Tyler, and know that they will do a great job once practice starts in January.”

Walker finished the 2015 season with seven points on five goals and two assists before earning a spot on the MAAC All-Academic Team for the second straight year. He made his mark on both sides of the field in the postseason, collecting three ground balls in a MAAC semifinal victory over Monmouth and scoring goals in NCAA Tournament games against Bryant and Syracuse, respectively.

Radin became the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s single-season scoring leader when he netted 55 goals in 2015. He helped Marist clinch the conference’s regular season title with a career-high seven goals and eight points April 18 at Manhattan. The 2015 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year ranked third in the nation in man up goals (11), ninth in goals per game (3.06) and 20th in points per game (4.06). His 153 career points are ninth all time in the Marist men’s lacrosse record book and his 115 career goals put him fourth among active Division I men’s lacrosse players. At a banquet in September honoring last season’s MAAC Championship team, Radin became the second player in program history to be chosen to wear no. 34 for his senior season in honor of the late Edward Coombs.

An All-MAAC Second Team selection the past two seasons, Recor led the Red Foxes in assists in 2014 and 2015. He finished second among Marist players with 72 points and led the team with 43 assists. His average of 2.39 assists per game was seventh the nation. Recor also found the back of the net 29 times, scoring four game-winning goals. Two of his clinchers came in the postseason as part of victories over Monmouth in the MAAC semifinals on April 30 and Bryant in an NCAA Tournament preliminary round game May 6. In just 29 games he surpassed the 100-point milestone for his career and is a member of the Preseason All-MAAC Team.

Vallie joined the Red Foxes last season and made an immediate impact on the defensive unit. He played in 15 games, going 3-for-5 from the faceoff X, and picked up six ground balls.

Marist will open the 2016 regular season against Air Force for the second straight year. Opening faceoff is slated for 12 p.m. Feb. 20 in Tenney Stadium.
