Former Philadelphia Wings standout Gary Martin, a two-time lacrosse All-American at Penn State who has coached over two decades of youth lacrosse in the Philly region, will be inducted into the Long Island Metro Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will be held Jan. 31 at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale.
Martin, who starred at Deer Park High on Long Island, settled in Philly after a standout career at Penn State and played for the Wings from 1988-95 when they played in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League. He was on championship teams in 1989, ’90, ’94 and ’95 and also served as a special assistant and assistant coach for the Wings from 1996-2000, helping them win another crown in 1998.
Martin also played club lacrosse with Eagle’s Eye Lacrosse Club, Philly Lax Club and Philadelphia MAB Paints.
Martin played with Penn State from 1981-84 and still held the school records in points (252), assists (156), points in one game (14) and assists in one game (9). He scored 96 career goals and led the nation in goals, assists and points in 1982. He was an Honorable Mention All-American in 1983 and 1984.
Martin has coached boys and girls as a youth coach for Radnor Lacrosse for over 25 years and coached several years with the Philadelphia Fever.
At Deer Park, Martin was all-league in 1978-80 and All-County in 1980. He was a Team Captain and Section XI Scholar-Athlete Award winner and in 1981 and 1982 was an NCAA All-America choice. In 1982, he led the Nation in Scoring (Div 1) and in 1984 he was team captain and played in the North South Game.
Martin also has enjoyed much success on the Masters/Grand Masters front, winning a USA Masters Gold Medal with Team Toyota and Rusty Red and Grand Masters titles with Team Toyota. Just this summer he helped the Elderstatesmen to their fifth straight Grandmasters Championship at the Vail Shootout.
Martin also was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
