The following are 2018 Players who Shined at the NXT Showcase Boys Philly Showcase at Episcopal Academy.
Cooper Isaacs, Agoura, LA Mavs
Nolan Crognale-Hopewell Valley HS (NJ) Attack, NXT, Crognale has been impressive this fall, with strong showings at Terp Classic and this past weekend in his backyard at the Philly Showcase. The NXT attackman has a great shot on cage and moves well without the ball. Crognale has the tools to be a top Division I player.
Sam Schroeder, St. Marks (TX) Midfield, C2C, Schroeder is your old school midfielder, he can take the wing on the face-off, he can play SSDM, and he plays great O. Schroeder is a strong kid with a powerful shot on cage. Another kid who has had a tremendous fall season.
Mitchell Rothstein, Haddonfield Memorial HS (NJ) Face-off/Midfielder, Blue Star, this kid is a magician at the faceoff X. Rothstein has quick wrists and gets the groundballs pretty easily. Rothstein is athletic and in good shape to stay on the field to play both ends of the field. Rothstein will be a great pickup whoever lands the Blue Star sophomore. (Haddonfield Memorial is developing some impressive players; keep an eye on them this spring season).
Eugene Yoon, Princeton Day HS (NJ), Goalie, Patriot, Yoon was selected to the Fab 40 team (Runner-Up to Morning MVP) and did some great work in goal during the all star game. But Yoon also displayed some great technique and made some difficult saves during the morning games. Yoon is a good talker and he is smart on the clears up field. The Princeton Day goalie has the makings to be a tremendous Division I netminder.
Andrew Ng, Woodinville (WA), LSM, Team Washington, Washington State is doing a great job developing lacrosse players. Ng is exciting to watch play the game. He does the little things well, gets to the GB’s, hustles, makes good checks, and doesn’t panic when moving the ball up the field.
Cooper Isaacs, Agoura (CA), D/LSM, LA MAVS, Isaacs is great on the wing on face-offs, he’s fast and he gets to the loose balls! Isaacs has good positioning when playing defense around the goal. Agoura is a program budding with talent in Los Angeles and Isaacs is one of those talents.
Joe Peterson, Monte Vista (CA), Midfield, 3D Lacrosse, Peterson is a big kid that gets after it on face-offs and can shoot the ball well. The 3D product is enjoyable player to watch play the game. Look for Peterson to have a great spring season for Monte Vista; this kid is someone to keep an eye on.
Sterlyn Ardrey, McCallie (TN) Midfield, Team 24/7, Ardrey is quick and runs well up and down the field on transition. Good lax I.Q. Love this kids’ motor. And he has a laser of a shot on goal. The sophomore is another player to keep an eye on this spring for a terrific program in McCallie.
Andrew Caples, McDonogh (MD), Defense, Rock Lacrosse Club, Love the way Caples plays the defense position. Great instincts and knows where is on the field at all times. Good checks on his attackman and gets to the groundballs and will take the ball up field looking for an open man on the offensive end. McDonogh is primed for a big season in the MIAA-A conference and Caples will be a big part of a strong defensive unit for the Eagles.
Alex Marsh, Lake Oswego (OR) Midfield, 3D Oregon, Marsh had a couple good games in the morning session on Saturday, Good mechanics, good footwork and a strong shot on goal. Oregon is another area on the left coast that is doing a great job developing players.
