The U.S. Men’s National Under-19 Team will culminate its three-day fall training camp with a free exhibition game against The Hill Academy (Canada) at Ohio State University on Sunday, Nov. 15.US-lacrosse1-300x150

The 10 a.m. game marks a rare opportunity for fans to get free admission to Ohio Stadium, also known as “The Horseshoe,” as America’s top high school and college lacrosse players take on Canada’s top prep school team. Team USA is led by Nick Myers, head coach of Ohio State’s men’s lacrosse team. Myers guided the Buckeyes to the Big Ten tournament championship game and NCAA tournament quarterfinals in 2015.

Team USA, the seven-time defending Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men’s Under-19 World Champion, is preparing to compete for an eighth gold medal at the 2016 FIL World Championship, July 7-16 in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

The training team features six Philly players: attackment Michael Sowers (Upper Dublin senior) and Grant Ament (Havetrford School, Class of 2015), midfielders Drew Supinski (Haverford School, Class of 2015) and Dox Aitken (Haverford School, 2016), face-off specialist Christian Feliziani (Episcopal Academy, 2016) and defenseman Noah Lejman (Haverford School,Class of 2015).

“This exhibition will feature some of the most talented young men North America has to offer our game,” Myers said. “We are grateful to US Lacrosse, The Hill Academy and the Ohio State Department of Athletics for making this event possible. It will be an exciting morning of end-to-end action for fans to enjoy and another important step in our process of building Team USA.”

After holding a 108-player tryout in June and a 50-player training camp in August, the U.S. player pool has been narrowed to 30. Ultimately, 23 players will be selected to travel with Team USA to defend gold in Canada next summer.

Training sessions will be held at Ohio State University on Friday, Nov. 13, and Saturday, Nov. 14, prior to Sunday’s exhibition game.

Gates open at 9 a.m. for the exhibition, with entrance through gate 23. Admission is free, and parking is $5. The game will not be broadcast, but highlights will be available on the US Lacrosse YouTube channel in the following week.

The final 23-man roster (and alternates) will be announced in mid-January following the inaugural Team USA Spring Premiere, Jan. 8-10, 2016 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL.
