From Press Release
The Lafayette men’s lacrosse program will participate in a pair of games at the Nicholas Colleluori Classic Long Island on the campus of Hofstra on Oct. 10, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
Colleluori, of Ridley High, was the founder of HEADstrong, an organization committed to improving the quality of life for cancer patients and their families through providing essential programs and services. He lost his courageous and untimely battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006 at the age of 21. Over the past nine years, college lacrosse teams have participated each fall to honor Colleluori.
The Leopards will take the field alongside Dartmouth, Hofstra and Quinnipiac. Lafayette will match up against Hofstra at 10 a.m. and Dartmouth at 1:30 p.m.
Each player will wear HEADstrong’s iconic lime green shoelaces to promote awareness for the cause. HEADstrong will honor heroes and their families at the event, presenting grants and gifts from the organization intended to improve their quality of life. HEADstrong President Cheryl Colleluori, mother of Nick, will also present the prestigious Nicholas Colleluori Award to a member from each program whose contributions both on and off the field are transforming the landscape of their represented program.
HEADstong will have an awareness station onsite featuring the latest in HF awareness merchandise and apparel with 100 percent of the proceeds supporting the mission. Additionally, a $5 charitable donation will be asked in lieu of admission.
