Sankey (Penn Charter) named MVP of UNC’s 2015 season; Pifani (Abington) wins defensive award

The University of North Carolina men’s lacrosse team honored its outstanding 2015 team Sunday morning with the annual team banquet at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on the UNC campus.

Head Coach Joe Breschi and his staff feted the UNC Tar Heels who finished last season with a 13-4 record, a second place finish in the ACC and a trip to the NCAA quarterfinals.

Following are the list of award winners and presenters as well as the name of the winner of the award in the previous season.

The Turnbull Trophy for the Team’s Most Valuable Player
Winner: Joey Sankey, Senior, Attackman, Warminster, Pa. (Penn Charter)

2014 Winner: Ryan Creighton (Malvern Prep)

The 2015 Team Offensive MVP
