Villanova University senior transfer goalkeeper Matt Barrett (Malvern Prep, Duke’s LC/Mesa Fresh) sustained a knee injury during the season opener at Penn State, and will be reevaluated by the doctors in a month. During this time he will be sidelined indefinitely.
“We are very disappointed that this happened to Matt,” stated head coach Michael Corrado. “We know he will work hard during his rehab. He will be reevaluated in March by the doctors to assess his recovery.”
Barrett started in goal for the Wildcats on February 3rd and left the game just over six minutes into the contest with the injury.
Barrett (Malvern Prep, Duke’s LC/Mesa Fresh) started three years at Virginia where he was a USILA Second Team All-American before trabsferring. Barrett also was a US Lacrosse All-American and two-time First Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick at Malvern Prep.
Villanova will travel to Texas to take on the Yale Bulldogs this Saturday.
