From Press Release
Former Drexel lacrosse standout Kyle Bergman and former Lehigh standout Noah Molnar has been named to the Israeli Men’s Lacrosse national team. The squad will compete at the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse Championships which will be held in Netanya, Israel.
The event will take place from July 12-21 and more than 50 countries will participate. It is the first time since the competition’s inception in 1967 that Israel has hosted. In face, it is the first time a country other than the United States, Canada, England or Australia has hosted the Championship.
Bergman played at Drexel from 2009-2012. As a freshman, he was named to the CAA All-Rookie team. Berman was a Second Team All-CAA pick as a junior and then made First Team in 2012 during his final year. He finished his career with 39 goals, 61 assists and 100 points.
Molnar finished his Lehigh career with 71 groundballs and 49 caused turnovers (currently tied for eighth in school history). As a sophomore, he posted career highs in goals (6), assists (4) and points (10) while also tallying 27 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers. Molnar continued with 21 groundballs and 21 caused turnovers in Lehigh’s 2012 Patriot League Championship campaign, then adding 15 groundballs and 11 caused turnovers in 2013 as the Mountain Hawks won their second straight league title.
After Lehigh, Molnar has gone onto an impressive career with the Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse. He won an MLL championship with Denver in 2016 and helped the Outlaws return to the title game in 2017. Last season, Molnar had six points (four goals, two assists) and 19 groundballs. One of his goals was the game-winner at New York on Apr. 29.
The national team’s roster is composed of Israeli players, as well as members of the Jewish diaspora, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL). In conjunction with the Israel Lacrosse Tzedakah Program, each player will be competing in honor of a charity of their choosing.
