For the second straight year the Marist men’s and women’s lacrosse teams hosted the Edward Taylor Coombs Fall Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday in Tenney Stadium. Now in its sixth year, the event had previously taken place at Coombs’ alma mater, Hatboro-Horsham High School.
The ETC Fall Lacrosse Tournament is held each year to honor the late Marist men’s lacrosse midfielder Edward Coombs, who tragically passed away in August 2011 prior to the start of his sophomore year.
Five men’s and women’s teams competed in the event, which raises funds for the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation.

The men’s team also hosted a skills clinic for kids in grades K-8 from 10-11 on North Field.
Eddie’s family set up the Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation to honor student-athletes who exemplify Eddie’s same strong character, provide outstanding scholar/athletes financial assistance to pursue their higher education goals so they can reach their full potential, and work with high school students around the issues of responsible decision making through seminars, forums, videos, and other education programs. Eddie was a well-respected member of the Marist community by staff and students.
The Red Foxes continued their tradition of giving Coombs’ no. 34 jersey to a graduating senior to wear during their final season of eligibility. This year’s jersey has been awarded to redshirt senior goalie Brian Corrigan.
