From Press Release
The Marquette University men’s lacrosse team has announced the addition of 18 newcomers for the 2017-18 academic year, including 17 four-year players and a junior transfer.
“We welcome another great contingent of young men to campus this fall and look forward to immersing them in our culture from day one,” Marquette head coach Joe Amplo said. “The trajectory for this program continues to point upwards and this group will play a vital role as we aim to be among the elite players in our sport. This class enters our program at a great time and will be presented with the unique challenge of helping push us from Big East Champions to NCAA title contenders.”
The group includes student-athletes from 10 different U.S. states, as well as Ontario, and features four players Pennsylvania and a pair each from California, Maryland, Illinois and New York. The Golden Eagles also add two players with Wisconsin ties as Jordan Schmid (Waukesha, Wisconsin) from Kettle Moraine High School was a late addition to the class, while Moey Lardy spent two years at Cedarburg High School before transferring to the Trinity-Pawling School in upstate New York.
Marquette also continues to add legacies to the roster in Aaron Joseph (Noah), Keaton Thomson (Tanner) and Zach Granger (Ryan). They join Noah Richard, Nick Grill as current MU players whose brothers also suited up in Blue and Gold.
Kai Storrs, a Minnesotan who spent each of the last two seasons at 2017 NCAA Champion Maryland, is the lone transfer in the class and will have two years of eligibility remaining at Marquette.
In all, the class includes six long pole players, one goalies and 11 midfielders/attackmen.
The two-time defending Big East Conference champions return five starters after making their second straight NCAA Championship appearance and will enter their sixth campaign in 2018.
