The nation’s best men’s lacrosse players will be on display when the U.S. national team holds a Blue-White exhibition game on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 12 noon on William G. Tierney Field at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. The game is open to the public and free of charge.

The coaching staff, led by Duke head coach John Danowski, will split up the 49 players that were named to the U.S. training team following tryouts at US Lacrosse in July.

The training team includes 11 players that represented the U.S. at the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men’s World Championship in Denver, Colorado, including Tucker Durkin (La Salle, Duke’s LC, Bryn Athyn College coach), Rob Pannell and Paul Rabil, who were all named to the all-world team at the event.

This is the first evaluation for the staff since tryouts were held at US Lacrosse in July. Additional training sessions will follow in October and January before they ultimately trim the roster to the 23 players that will represent the United States in the FIL Men’s World Championship in Netanya, Israel from July 12-21, 2018.

Since 1967, the U.S. has won gold or silver medal at every men’s international world championship in field lacrosse. The U.S. won gold in 1967, 1974, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010. The U.S. finished as the runner-up to Canada in 1978, 2006 and 2014.

The U.S. men’s national team trains and plays using best-in class products provided by Nike (apparel and footwear), Cascade (helmets), STX (equipment), Warrior (equipment), SISU Guard (mouthguards) DJO Global and MotivePure. Team training is also aided by products from NormaTec Recovery and Athletic Republic. In addition to these partners, MedStar Sports Medicine, Greenfields, Nationwide, Sports Force Parks and SweatX are official sponsors of Team USA.
