Downingtown West 2016 face-off specialist Jack Feeney has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Cleveland State.
Jack Feeney ledger:
High School: Downingtown West
Graduation year: 2016
College choice: Cleveland State
Club Affiliation: HEADstrong
Major Lacrosse Honors: Brine All American, Hotbeds All Star, Philly Under Armour top 88
Intended Major: Business
Why did I choose this school? “I chose CSU because of the strong academics and athletics. There are many opportunities in the surrounding community for jobs once I graduate, which was a key component in my college search. As far as lacrosse, my freshman year will be the first year ever for Cleveland State lacrosse, which is extremely exciting to be a part of. Coach (Dylan) Sheridan (head coach) comes from a very impressive background, coaching at Denver and Princeton, and I know he will be a great coach at CSU as well. Coach (Andy) German (assistant coach) also comes from a very impressive background coaching at Villanova and then serving as the head coach at St. Joseph’s Prep leading them to a state title in his first and only year there. They were both very welcoming on my visit and made me feel right at home. It was an opportunity I could not pass up on and I am excited to be a Viking!”
Team’s outlook for 2016 HS season: “We lost some key seniors last year, but we have a group of experienced upperclassmen and determined underclassmen that will help us this year.”
Thank You: “First of all, I would like to thank my parents for helping me get to where I am today. Without them I wouldn’t be in this position.
“I would also like to thank the entire HEADstrong Foundation for all that they have done in helping me in the recruiting process. I loved playing for the HEADstrong Foundation not only because of the high level lacrosse but because of the message within the foundation. Coach Neary and coach Zusi were two coaches I had when I played for HEADstrong and I can’t thank them enough for all that they have taught me and their help in the recruiting process.
“Coach Tom Slate has also been both a great coach and mentor. He helped me grow into the player/person I am today. He has taught me so much about the game and being a great player and I will carry that with me throughout my future career.
“Coach Harry Sankey was a great coach and resource for me. I only played for Coach Sankey one season but I learned a lot about the recruiting process and playing at the next level. He is still very helpful with anything I need help with lacrosse related today.
“The Philly Face Off League has been a great place to get some good practice in against some of the best face off guys in the country. Coach Bodnar and Coach Dolente run the program very well and I have learned a lot from them. They have also been very helpful in the recruiting process by putting my name out on their social media sites.”
