A second-half rally by Moorestown made it interesting, but the Quakers fell to Delbarton, 15-9, Saturday night in the New Jersey Tournament of Champions final at Kean University.
It was the second straight T of C title for the Green Wave and No. 6 overall in 10 tries, since the tourney was created in 2004. Delbarton was the Non-Public A champion and Moorestown won the Group 3 state crown.
Moorestown jumped to a quick start as Quaker senior standout Frankie Labetti – who dominated at the X – won the opening faceoff and fed Ben Cantwell for a 1-0 lead 7 seconds into play.
But the Green Wave scored the next four goals and led, 8-3, at halftime, ding 8-3 lead.
Delbarton widened the lead to 11-3 early in the second half, but Moorestown used a 5-0 run to close out the third quarter behind Labetti, Quinn Willis (three goals, one assist) and Will Corbi (three goals, one assist).
Delbarton responded withe the next three goals, though, to take back the momentum.
Labetti had two goals and two assists for the Quakers, who reached the Tournament of Champions final for the first time in program history.
