The Mercer men’s lacrosse team has elected Colin Massa, Chris Rahill (Archbishop Wood) and Jackson Teague as captains for the 2017 season, as announced by head coach Kyle Hannan on Monday.

Rahill has logged 25 starts and seen action in 32 games for the Bears. The senior attackman has totaled 34 goals, 24 assists, 58 points, 36 ground balls and five caused turnovers for Mercer. In 2015, he led the Bears with 33 points off 19 goals and a team-leading 14 assists. He holds four spots on Mercer’s single-season scoring leaderboards and ranks fourth in career points and goals and fifth in career assists.
Massa has played in 37 games and earned 35 starts at Mercer. The senior defender has recorded 52 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers while scoring two goals and adding an assist for a total of three points. In 2016, Massa was second for the Bears with 12 caused turnovers and he currently ranks fourth on Mercer’s career caused turnover leaderboard.
Teague has played in 10 games for Mercer, scoring three goals and adding an assist for a total of four points. The senior midfielder has also tallied six shots and a ground ball. Last season, he scored in Mercer’s wins over VMI and Furman.
Mercer will open the 2017 season on Feb. 4 against Vermont at noon at Five Star Stadium.
