Ursinus College men’s lacrosse head coach Jamie Steele has announced the hiring of former captains Ian Moore and Mark Stratton (Manheim Township) as assistant coaches. The 2015 graduates return to Collegeville less than two years removed from leading the Bears to their first Centennial Conference final and NCAA Tournament appearance as seniors, and now will try to get the program over the hump as part of Steele’s staff.

“I could not be more excited about Ian and Mark returning to Ursinus and joining our coaching staff,” Steele said. “Both of these young men were great players and leaders and I am thrilled that they wanted to come back and be a part of our current team. We are all excited for the upcoming season.”
Moore and Stratton played large roles in Ursinus’ historic 2015 campaign, combining for 47 goals and 24 assists to help propel the Bears to the conference championship game and their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. Stratton, who scored the game-winning goal – on an assist from Moore – in the 8-7 thriller over Cabrini in the first round, finished with 30 goals and 21 assists on the way to earning first team All-CC and honorable mention All-America status. Stratton’s 51 points in 2015 are third-most in a single season in school history, just two shy of the all-time mark established by Dane Mangin in 2006. A two-year captain and three-time member of the Dean’s List, Stratton was also a USILA Scholar All-American as a senior.
A second team all-conference attack as a freshman, Stratton ranks among the top five in program history in goals (84, 4th), assists (68, 2nd), points (152, 3rd), and shots (280, 3rd). He is 11th in ground balls (124).
Moore produced 36 goals and 13 assists in just 40 career games. He missed all but one game of his junior year but tallied 17 goals in his sophomore and senior seasons, adding a total of 47 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. He spent last year as co-offensive coordinator at Arcadia, where he also served as recruiting coordinator, equipment manager, and coordinator of academic quality control.
