Cabrini University assistant men’s lacrosse coach P.T. Ricci (Conestoga) will continue his professional career after signing a two year extension with the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse.

“P.T. is a veteran of the MLL and knows how to be successful. He is a competitor who is also a tremendous teammate,” said Launch Head Coach Tom Mariano. “He is committed to building the Launch into a great franchise.”

Since being acquired by the Launch in 2014, Ricci has been an important cog in the team’s defensive unit. In his three years in Florida, he has recorded nine points and scooped 135 ground balls from his defensive midfield spot.

“I couldn’t be any happier to be back with the Launch for the next two years. It’s a great group of guys who I’m looking forward to competing for a championship with,” said Ricci. “We have a tremendous amount of talent that will play hard and put together a season the fans have been waiting for.”

Ricci was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks with the 11th overall pick in the 2009 MLL Collegiate Draft. The former Loyola University Maryland All-American was named to the 2011 MLL All-Star Game and captured consecutive league championships with the Bayhawks and Boston Cannons in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

Ricci joined the Cavaliers’ coaching staff in 2015 as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator and has made significant impacts on the Blue and White. Cabrini has ranked among the nation’s top defenses, surrendering less than 5.2 goals per game. Ricci has also been instrumental in helping develop the program’s 11 All-Americans over the last two season.

Ricci and the Cavaliers will open their 2017 season on Feb. 18, when they welcome Haverford College to Edith Robb Dixon Field. The opening faceoff is slated for 12 noon.
