Fusion 2019 completed a four-game sweep on its way to winning the championship in the JV division of the Brandywine Classic Saturday in Middletown, DE. Fusion used tough defense, great goaltending, and disciplined offense to steadily pace itself throughout the tournament.
“I think it says a lot about the discipline of the players, that we were able to secure close victories throughout the day,” said Fusion 2019 Coach Luke Wiles, who is also the head coach at Archbishop Carroll and was a national lacrosse league all-star. “When we did have a breakdown it was goalies Colin McDonnell (Malvern Prep) and Matt Wall who consistently stepped up.”
Co-coach Steven Holmes, Fusion founder and MLL pro, also commended the leadership of his players. “I think we have a lot of leaders on this team. We had especially strong performances from TJ Sims (Penncrest, Attack), Sean Kearney (Archbishop Carroll, midfield), Ludwig Pausauner (midfield/f/o, Radnor), and Blake Ewasky (LSM, CB West), and our goalies were fantastic.”
Fusion 2019’s fall schedule continues as it competes in the Adrenaline Fall Invitational in New Castle Delaware this weekend.
