Ken Clausen – who starred at The Hill School and went on to be a four-time All-American at Virginia before making an even bigger impact as creator of HEADstrong’s Mustache Madness – will be inducted into the Hill Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday. Also, The Hill School’s state champion lacrosse team from 1986 will be inducted.

During the Alumni Association Luncheon on Saturday, June 11, Hill School Alumni Association President Rob Walley ’88 announced the 2016 Athletics Hall of Fame induction class:
1) Kenneth A. Clausen ’06, a four-time All-American lacrosse player at the University of Virginia, and a professional player in Major League Lacrosse.
2) Blackburne Costin ’66, who was a three-sport captain at The Hill, and was named captain of the Wesleyan University ice hockey team as just a sophomore.
3) Philip C. Perry ’71, a basketball star who averaged 29.6 points-per-game during his post-graduate year and played for Wake Forest University.
4) James J. Weaver, the coach who put Hill swimming on the national map in the 1970’s.
5) The state champion 1986 lacrosse team.
The formal Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on campus on Friday, November 4 as part of The Hill vs. Lawrenceville Weekend. This year’s Lawrenceville games are at home throughout the day of Saturday, November 5. We warmly invite all alumni, parents, and friends of The Hill to return to Pottstown for one or both Hill vs. Lawrenceville Weekend events.
Clausen was a four-year letter winner on the football and boys’ lacrosse teams, and was team captain of both during his sixth form year. In addition to being football captain, Clausen received the team’s “Player’s Player” award in 2005. He was a three-time All-MAPL selection on the lacrosse team and was an All-American in 2006.
After graduating from The Hill, Clausen embarked on a storied lacrosse career at Virginia. He was a four-time All-American, earning three first-team selections. In 2010, Clausen was an All-ACC selection; he won the Schmeisser Cup, given to the top defenseman in the NCAA; and he was a USILA Scholar All-American. That year, Clausen also was a finalist for the Tewaarton Trophy, the NCAA lacrosse equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. Clausen was the fifth overall selection in the 2010 Major League Lacrosse Draft, and he won a MLL championship with the Denver Outlaws in 2014.
In recent years, Clausen has become well-known for his charity work. During his senior year at UVA, Clausen created Lacrosse Mustache Madness as a way to pay tribute to HEADstrong founder Nicholas Colleluori, who passed away from cancer in 2006. Since its inception in 2010, Lacrosse Mustache Madness has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the HEADstrong Foundation.
In recent years, Clausen has become well-known for his charity work. During his senior year at UVA, Clausen created Lacrosse Mustache Madness as a way to pay tribute to HEADstrong founder Nicholas Colleluori, who passed away from cancer in 2006. Since its inception in 2010, Lacrosse Mustache Madness has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the HEADstrong Foundation. In the spring of 2014, Clausen was honored at the annual HEADstrong Lime Light Gala (Held at Delaware Avenue Hyatt Regency) with the HEADstrong Relentless Award.
