The Dukes Virginia U15 team claimed the team title at the recent Lake Norman (Charlotte, NC) Carpetbaggers lacrosse tournament while the U19 squad placed second.
The U15 team went 5-1 in the tournament, winning the championship game against Myrtle Beach (S.C.), 6-2. Duke’s Virginia, formed under the direction of Duke’s National director Ebe Helm this past summer, and won its first tournament championship in just its third event. The coaches for this tournament were Geoff Rowland, who played at Radford University; Sean Stalfort, who was an All-American and Brown out of Charlottesville; and Steve Mason, an All-American goalie at Roanoke College.
The U19 team was a perfect 3-0 on Saturday, beating the Miners 8-6 in Game 3. The squad went 4-1 overall.
