Men’s recruits: @NovaLacrosse announces incoming class

Villanova men’s lacrosse Head Coach Mike Corrado and his staff are set to welcome the addition of 12 student-athletes for the 2015-16 academic year.Villanova lacrosse

The incoming cohort features one Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List member, two all-america selections, five all-state honorees, 10 all-conference performers and includes a mix of two attackmen, five midfielders, four defensemen and one goalkeeper. Additionally, the incoming freshmen class features seven multi-sport athletes while nine have earned academic honors during their high school careers.

Corrado will also welcome Princeton transfer Jake Froccaro to the roster, who comes to Villanova with two years of eligibility remaining after spending his first two years with the Tigers. At Villanova Jake will join younger brother Joey, an incoming freshman for the Wildcats, and older sister, Jackie, who will be a senior on the Villanova women’s lacrosse team.

Joining the Wildcats this fall are Brendan Black (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School), TJ Comizio (Basking Ridge, N.J./Delbarton), Fernando Delgado (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret’s Episcopal School), Jake Froccaro (Sands Point, N.Y./Port Washington/Princeton), Joey Froccaro (Sands Point, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber), Andrew Gallahue (Hampton, N.H./Choate Rosemary Hall), Timmy Hardy (Pasadena, Md./St. Mary’s), Kevin Kelly (Massapequa, N.Y./Chaminade), Brendan Kenny (Mendham, N.J./Delbarton), Ryan Russell (Denver, Colo./Valor Christian), Nick Testa (Rexford, N.Y./Niskayuna) and Roberto LoCascio (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex Regional).

Brendan Black
Princeton, N.J./The Hun School

Midfield – 5’10”, 165 lbs.

The Hun School of Princeton: Earned four varsity letters under head coach EV Whitlow where he scored 100 career points via 50 goals and 50 assists… Served as a three-year team captain… Helped lead the team to a 2015 Mid-Atlantic Prep League Championship and NJ Prep State Championship with a 19-1 overall record and No. 4 national ranking by Inside Lacrosse… Named a 2015 Honorable Mention NJ State All-Prep team honoree and was the 2015 Coaches Award Winner… Chosen as a 2013 and 2014 Second Team All-Bianchi Division member… Played club lacrosse for Tri-State Black and won the Tri-State National Championship in 2014… Also lettered in football and soccer… Member of the Honor Roll.

Personal: Born January 7th, 1996 in Hackensack, N.J… Parents are Peter and Maura Black… Siblings are Owen and Kiera… Father, Peter, played football at Bucknell from 1979-82… High school teammate, Julian Williams, is a freshman on the football team at Villanova… Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

TJ Comizio
Basking Ridge, N.J./Delbarton

Midfield – 5’10”, 165 lbs.

Delbarton: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Chuck Ruebling… Helped guide Delbarton to three Morris County Championships, one Non-Public A State Championship and one New Jersey Tournament of Champions title… Named the Mugs Media Morris County Player of the Year… 2015 All Non-Public and All Pitt-Fitch selection… Also lettered in squash and football where he was an all-conference and all-area selection as a wide receiver and defensive back… Earned High or Highest Honors all four years in high school.

Personal: Born January 7th, 1997 in Morristown, N.J… Parents are Robert and Keeneh Comizio… Siblings are Keeneh, Kirby, Chet and Keely… Sister, Keeneh, is a member of the field hockey and lacrosse teams at Yale… Mother, Keeneh, played field hockey and lacrosse at the Penn and father, Rob, played football at Penn… Aunt and uncle combined to play field hockey, lacrosse and soccer at Harvard… Was the high school teammate of current Villanova lacrosse member JP Campbell… Enrolled in the Villanova School of Business.

Fernando Delgado
San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret’s Episcopal School

Defense – 6’0”, 165 lbs.

St. Margaret’s Episcopal School: Earned four varsity letters under head coach Glen Miles, playing both LSM and close defense… Named a second team all-county selection and athlete of the year during his senior season… Earned the Dedication Award in 2014… Chosen as a second team all-league honoree in 2013… Also earned four varsity letters in football where he was an all-state defenseman and Coaches Award honoree… Member of the Honor Roll.

Personal: Born June 29th, 1996 in San Clemente, Calif… Parents are Raul and Diana Delgado… Siblings are Ariana and Carlos… Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Jake Froccaro
Sands Point, N.Y./Port Washington

Midfield – 6’1”, 195 lbs.

Awards: 2015 Preseason Third Team All-America selection by Inside Lacrosse… Named to the 2015 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List… 2013 Ivy League Rookie of the Year… 2013 Honorable Mention All-Ivy League selection.

At Princeton: Only midfielder in program history with at least 20 goals as a freshman and sophomore … Only Princeton middie to reach at least 50 goals by the end of sophomore year … One of eight players in program history to reach 50 goals by sophomore year.

2015 (Princeton): Registered three assists in the opener against Manhattan and a goal against Maryland before redshirting the season due to injury.
2014 (Princeton): Second on the team in goals with 27… Had 10 goals in the loss to Yale… Accomplished all of the following with his 10-goal game against Yale: first player in Division I to reach double figures since Jordan McBride of Stony Brook in 2008; tied the 63-year-old Princeton school record for goals in a game (set by William Griffith in 1951 against Rutgers), became the fourth player since the formation of the Ivy League in 1957 to score at least 10 goals in a game; became the first player ever to score 10 goals in an Ivy league game; bettered his previous career high of three in each half, with six in the first half and four in the second… Had a then career-high six points against Villanova (three goals, three assists)… Had two goals and an assist and won 9 of 15 face-offs against Brown… Had a goal and career high three assists against Harvard… Had a goal and two assists against Lehigh… Had two goals against Dartmouth… Had a goal and assist against Carolina and Penn… Had a goal against Johns Hopkins… Had first two goals against Manhattan

Midfield/Faceoff – 6’0”, 185 lbs.

Paul D. Schreiber: Earned five varsity letters under head coach Tom Rooney as a midfielder and faceoff specialist… Served as a three-time team captain from 2013-15 and helped the squad to a 2015 NYSPHSAA State Championship… Named a 2015 Under Armour All-American and US Lacrosse All-American… 2015 Nassau County Midfielder of the Year… Named to the 2015 MSG Varsity All-Metro First Team and All-Long Island First Team… Was a three-time All-Nassau County honoree from 2013-15… 2012 Honorable Mention All-Nassau County… Earned Academic All-Nassau County laurels in 2013, 2014 and 2015… 2012 NCLCA Academic All-Conference honoree… Earned the Schreiber High School Athletic Achievement Award… Four-time member of the honor roll and was a 2015 Schreiber High School Excellence in Business Law recipient… Played club lacrosse for Long Island Express from 2006-14 and was a 2012 US Lacrosse U-15 National Champion.

Andrew Gallahue
Hampton, N.H./Choate Rosemary Hall

St. John’s Prep/Choate Rosemary Hall: Earned four varsity letters under John Roy at St. John’s Prep and one varsity letter under Michael Velez at Choate Rosemary Hall… Named a 2015 All-Western New England and All-Founders league selection at Choate Rosemary Hall… Was the 2015 runner-up for the Stu Lindsey Award for best attackman in Western New England… 2012-2014 All-Catholic Conference honoree at St. John’s Prep… 2013 Eastern Massachusetts All-American… Named a team captain and team MVP in 2014 at St. John’s Prep… Registered 257 career points at St. John’s Prep… Tallied 42 goals and 21 assists during his PG year at Choate Rosemary Hall… Also lettered in golf and football during his high school career… Member of the National Honor Society and German National Honor Society.

Timmy Hardy
Pasadena, Md./St. Mary’s

Attack – 5’7”, 165 lbs.

St. Mary’s: Earned four varsity letters under head coach Ben Rubeor where he led the team to a 2015 MIAA “A” Championship… Was the 2015 team leading scorer with 38 goals and 23 assists… Named a 2014 and 2015 first team all-county selection… Chosen as a 2013 and 2014 Freestate Top-22, Top 205 and Blue Chip member… 2013 second team all-county… Played club lacrosse for the Baltimore Crabs and Annapolis Hawks… Member of the Spanish National Honor Society… 2013-15 Principal’s Honor Student.

Personal: Born February 21st, 1997 in Annapolis, Md… Parents are Tim and Kim Hardy… Has one younger sister, Jordan… Was the high school teammate of current Villanova team captain John Kluh… Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Kevin Kelly
Massapequa, N.Y./Chaminade

Defense – 5’9”, 170 lbs.

Chaminade: Earned four varsity letters under head coach John Moran… Named an all-league defenseman in 2014… Selected as the team MVP in 2012… Also lettered in basketball.

Personal: Born January 5th, 1997 in Massapequa, N.Y… Parents are Jack and Kathie Kelly… Siblings are Jessica, Jason, John and Annie… Was the high school teammate of current Villanova lacrosse players Sean Cerrone and Matt Wysota… Enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Brendan Kenny
Mendham, N.J./Delbarton

Midfield – 5’10”, 165 lbs.

Delbarton: Earned two varsity letters under head coach Chuck Ruebling… Helped lead the team to a 2015 Morris County Tournament of Champions title… Helped lead Delbarton to a Morris County Tournament of Champions title, a Non-Public Group-A State Championship and the New Jersey State Championship in 2014… Played club lacrosse for Patriot Lacrosse Club… Also lettered in indoor track where he was a first team all-county selection and Meet of Champions finalist… Set a Morris County and Delbarton 55-meter record (6.54)… Three-time MVP sprinter… Earned highest honors all four years of high school.

Personal: Born October 9th, 1996 in Morristown, N.J… Parents are Kevin and Deanna Kenny… Siblings are Kieran and Mackenzie… Brother, Kieran Kenny, and high school teammates TJ Comizio and JP Campbell are current members of the Villanova lacrosse team… Enrolled in the Villanova School of Business.

Roberto LoCascio
Fairfield, N.J./West Essex Regional

Defense – 6’0”, 195 lbs.

West Essex Regional: Earned four varsity letters under head coach Tim Glenn… Selected as a 2015 first team all-state, Fitch Division and Super Essex Conference honoree… Named a 2014 Under Armour Underclassmen NJ All-American… Played for the Building Blocks Club Lacrosse team for two seasons… Also lettered in football and wresting… Was a county and District 13 championship in wrestling… Chosen as a First Team All-State Group 3 honoree and First Team All-Super Essex Conference in football, where he also led the team to a state championship… Earned a total of 12 varsity letters for West Essex Regional… Member of the National Honor Society and Italian Honor Society… 2015 Essex County Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete.

Ryan Russell

Valor Christian: Earned four varsity letters under head coach John Grant Jr… Tallied 157 career goals for a total of 248 points during his high school career… Named a 2013 and 2015 First Team All-State selection… 2014 Second Team All-State honoree… 2013-15 First Team all-conference member… Earned 2013 All-Colorado Honorable Mention laurels… Chosen as the 2015 Valor Christian Male Athlete of the Year and Senior Male Athlete of the Year… Three time First Team All-State Academic honoree… Member of the National Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Nick Testa
Rexford, N.Y./Niskayuna

Goalkeeper – 5’11”, 155 lbs.

Niskayuna: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Mike Vorgang… 2014 and 2015 Second 2 Second Team All-Star… Helped his team to a 2015 New York State Class A Championship where he was also named the championship MVP… Credited with 196 saves and a 66% save percentage in 2015… Posted a 40-4 record as a starting goalkeeper in 2014 and 2015… Niskayuna Eric Klosterman Award Winner… 2015 Certificate of Merit honoree in the Field of Engineering Technology… 2014 Member of the National Honor Society and Cum Laude honoree in the National Latin Exam… 2013 Scholar Athlete.
