Missouri face-off specialist Phil Bergman (Media, PA, Strath Haven) was named to the MCLA Scholar Athlete (Academic All-American) team.

To qualify for Scholar Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher while also finding a place on his respective first or second team all-conference list. There were 74 selections in Division I.
Bergman, a junior, went 235-333 (71%) from the X in 2016 with 96 gbs. He finished his career as Missouri’s record leader in face-off wins, win percentage and ground balls and is one of the first face-off specialists in the GRLC to win 600 face-offs in a career. Bergman was named Second-Team All-Conference after being named to the First Team in 2015 and the Third Team in 2014.
