Central Bucks East clinched its third straight Suburban One Continental Conference title Tuesday when it toppled host Souderton, 12-2.
The Patriots closed their league season at 9-2, one game ahead of North Penn. Overall, East closed it regular season at 13-4 Wednesday with a 17-5 rout of Dowingtown West.
The Pats had fallen out of first place after two heartbreaking losses, 7-6 to CB West in double overtime, and 10-9 to North Penn in triple overtime on April 21. After that, East won its final seven games, including five in the conference. Two of those wins were rematch victories over CB West, 14-2, and North Penn, 9-6.
East, which shared the title last year with Central Bucks South, got three goals and an assist from Owen Griffin in the clincher over Souderton. Logan Nelsen (two assists), Ryan Schmidt and Ryan Brown each had two goals. Mike Ott won 9-of-16 face-offs while Liam Rosenthal (five saves) and Henry Ruddell (four saves) combined for the win in goal.
Connor Larkin had five ground balls to lead the Patriots while Bryan McIntosh had three.
Central Bucks East rolled over Downingtown West Wednesday as Griffin (five goals, two assists) and Brown (four goals, three assists) led the way. Alec Bracken and Nelsen each added a hat trick. Nelsen also had one assist. Ott won 20-of-24 face-offs. Liam Rosenthal (four saves) and Ian Mauer (two saves) combined for the win in goal.
CB East is currently the No. 9 team in the LaxPower rankings for District. these rankings will determine the seeds for the District 1 tournament.
