Perkiomen Valley senior midfielder Ben Minardi has been named the Pansini Law Group Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
The award recognizes senior and junior lacrosse players that excel in academics, service and athletics.
Ben Minardi profile:
Year: 2016
Position: midfielder
College choice: Committed to Ursinus College, where he will play lacrosse and plan to major in applied economics and mathematics.
Service activities: Key Club, Rotary Club, Volunteer assistant coach for youth lacrosse program, Employee at Giant Food Stores
Academic honors: Distinguished Honor Roll, GPA approximately 4.3; recent AP and honors classes are AP Stat, AP Calc AB, AP Physics, AP Government, and honors civil engineering and architecture
Lacrosse Honors: 2014 2nd Team All-PAC-10, 2015 1st team All PAC-10, led team in 2015 in points and goals. Currently 2nd on the team in points with 37 in 2016. Was awarded the 2013 Viking Battle Axe Award for a player that displays the 7 pillars of our team philosophy.
On Academics, Service and Athletics:
How do you describe leadership?
Minardi: “In lacrosse leadership is found in the players with positive attitudes, that set good examples, and always play their hardest from practice to game time. Leadership can come from anybody on a team, because it means working hard to get yourself, your teammates, and your team better.”
How do you balance lacrosse, school, and extracurriculars?
Minardi: “I balance lacrosse, school, and extracurriculars through planning and staying on top of my schoolwork. I keep in mind the importance of not procrastinating. I try to set priorities, so I have time to work and do other things like coaching with the youth program, while still maintaining my grades and practice time for lacrosse.”
