He manages to lead the team as Captain for a third straight year, while juggling academics, and numerous other extracurricular activities without repose. His professionalism and diligence garners respect from his peers, the school’s administration, his teachers, and the community. He is a true steward of the sport and one heck of a team player, both on and off the field.
Future Plans “Next year I’ll be in the College of undergraduate studies but I plan to transfer into the Smeal College of Business to study Marketing and pursue a career in product advertisement. I hope to play club lacrosse but I’ll need to make sure my grades come first.”
How do you describe leadership based on your service projects?
White: “I think a good leader is someone everyone can get behind and follow for any given cause, whether it be school, sports, or service. A leader is someone who doesn’t necessarily stand in the spotlight, but is always working to better his team or group and work with his team. With that being said. I also believe that leaders should take control of any given situation that his or her team is lacking. I think what separates a good leader from a great leader is that a great leader does not always lead, but follows as well.”
How do you balance academics and athletics:
White: “Being a student athlete is no easy task; I’m sure just about every high school athlete could tell you the same thing. We hear coaches say it all the time: ‘Student athlete, the student part comes first.’ I try to hold myself to this, but in order to truly excel at a sport you need to work at it. Hard work is a virtue that I believe is very important to have while being a student athlete. I’ve stayed up late a countless number of nights studying or doing homework, but that’s what you have to do to be both a successful student and athlete.”
