This is one of a series of previews for the 2016 Philly lacrosse season

St. Joseph’s Prep

League: Catholic League

Head Coach: Sean DeLaney, first year

Last year’s record: 19-6, Catholic League Titles- 2003,2011,2015. PIAA State Champion Runners Ups- 2011&2015

Key returnees: Kevin Stump-Attack, Daniel Fisher- Face Off, Griffin Fleming- Attack, Peter Gayhardt- Midfield, Brendan McGinn- Defense, Alex Scalamandre- Midfield, Kyle Scheuerle- Midfield.

Coach’s Outlook for 2016: “Coming off a State Championship loss and a 3rd coaching staff for this senior class is not easy but they have handled it tremendously. We are leaning heavily on our Senior Captains Kevin Stump, Peter Gayhardt, Kyle Scheuerle and Griffin Fleming to continue to lead this team. Our strength will be at the face off X where we will be lead by Dan Fisher. Our defense is young but is a group we expect a lot out of.

Lansdale Catholic Crusaders

League: Philadelphia Catholic League

Head Coach: Thomas Nace, 1st Season (previously Assistant at Souderton for 6 seasons)

Last year’s record: 5-13 (1-9)

Key returnees:
Phil White (Sr., M)
Mike Basilii (Jr., M)
Grady Kelly (Jr., A/M)
Stephen Davis (Jr., A)
Bobby Bausman (Jr., G)
Nick Heiler (Jr., FO)
Ryan MacDonald (Jr., LSM)

Coach’s Outlook for 2016: “We have a lot of talent returning on our still-young team. We’re anticipating an improvement in our record from last year as we continue to build on our strengths and revamp our offense. Our midfield and defensive depth will enable us to stay competitive in the PCL, where we lost 4 games by two goals or less in 2015.”
