The Cabrini men’s lacrosse team scored its second top 10 victory of the season Saturday at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the No. 8 Cavaliers scored a 12-5 win over the visiting Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops.

The win improves the Blue and White to 5-0 on the season, while the No. 9 Bishops fall to 5-2.

Six Cavaliers recorded goals in today’s victory, led by freshman Jordan Krug (Cherokee, NJ), who netted a season high four goals. Fellow rookie Matt LoParo recorded his second impressive in as many games this week, adding a game high five points on two goals and three assists.

Junior Evan Downey and freshman Sean Wagner added two goals each, while senior Ethan Heisman (Henderson) and sophomore Ben Junior (Radnor) added one each. Downey and Heisman also posted an assist each.

Senior Matt Ward (Ridley) anchored the Blue and White’s defensive effort, causing a program record eight turnovers, breaking John McSorley and Jeff Moore’s previous mark of seven. Classmate Austin Edelman (Upper Merion) added two of Cabrini’s 14 forced turnovers on the day.

Senior Chris Schneekloth went 12-20 (Central Bucks East) at the faceoff spot, including winning seven of eight faceoffs in the fourth quarter.

Goalie Tyler Morrell (Episcopal Academy) earned his fourth consecutive victory, recording nine saves.

Bowdoin 15, Williams 9

Daniel Buckman (Lower Merion) had two goals and two assists and LSM San Denious (Haverford School) had two groundballs to lead host Bowdoin to its first win.

Ursinus 12, Elizabethtown 7

A dominant first half and a near-flawless face-off performance from senior James Fairchild (Malvern Prep) proved a perfect recipe for another impressive result for the Bears, who completed a three-game road trip with a victory at Elizabethtown that wasn’t as close as the final score suggested.

Fairchild won all but one of his 15 face-offs and senior Logan Panaccione produced a career-high six points as Ursinus (4-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back in handing the Blue Jays (4-2) their first home loss of the season.

The Bears needed only a minute to grab a lead, as sophomore Ian Desenberg – fresh off a four-goal effort in last weekend’s victory at Montclair State – scored unassisted to stake the visitors to another quick start. Junior Matthew Cioeta (Sun Valley) tallied less than two minutes later, and Ursinus seized a three-goal advantage when Desenberg finished off a feed from sophomore Gerard Brown.

Elizabethtown got within 3-2 early in the second quarter with back-to-back goals, but Ursinus rattled off five unanswered markers to leave the Blue Jays behind. Brown set up senior Steve Mussoline (Allentoen Central Catholic) and Panaccione before scoring a goal of his own, and the Bears got goals from sophomore Lou Harrison and Logan Panaccione in the final minute of the period to go into halftime with an 8-2 lead.

Freshman Peter DeSimone tallied twice in the third quarter, and Panaccione’s third goal gave Ursinus its biggest lead of the afternoon at 11-3 with 12:20 remaining in the fourth. Elizabethtown scored four times over the last seven minutes and change to make the final margin less lopsided.

Panaccione’s three assists were a career high, and the hat-trick was his second of the season; he needed only three shots to score his three goals. Brown stretched his Centennial Conference-leading assist total to 16 with another multi-assist effort; the sophomore, who had 17 all of last season, has registered at least two helpers in every game this season.

Desenberg, DeSimone, and Mussoline each scored twice for the Bears, with Mussoline offering his first multi-goal effort of the year. DeSimone, meanwhile, collected four ground balls and added an assist. Cioeta had a goal and an assist to complement four ground balls, and senior Liam Duke handed out his second career assist on Harrison’s goal just before intermission.

Fairchild was entirely dominant at the X, winning 14-of-15 draws to give the Bears a sizeable advantage in possession time. He matched a career high with eight ground balls and put forth his best face-off performance to date; Fairchild went 10-for-11 against Mary Washington and 15-of-17 versus Muhlenberg a year ago.

Haverford 9, Wooster 2

It was another shutdown defensive effort from the Haverford lacrosse team that led to the team’s third straight victory. The Fords (4-2) won each of the four quarters and did not allow a goal for the final 31:54 of playing time in a win over Wooster (3-2). The Fords and Fighting Scots had never met prior to Saturday’s game on Swan Field.

Haverford spread the scoring around as seven different players recorded a goal in the winning effort. Tav Hafner and Isaac Krier each had two goals to pace the attack. The Fords also moved the ball nicely with six assists on those nine goals. Garret Trucksess (Germantown Academy) and Patrick Girard each had two helpers on the afternoon.

In net, Eric Caliendo starred for the Fords as he stopped 14 of the 16 shots on goal that he faced. He also gathered nine ground balls and caused three turnovers. The Fords’ senior co-captain has anchored a defense that has conceded just seven goals in the past three games.

Immaculata 11, Wilkes 7

Immaculata men’s lacrosse used a six-goal fourth quarter, including three goals from Mike Reardon (West Deptford, NJ), to rally past host Wilkes.

Brendan Doyle (Springfield-Montco) scored three goals and assisted on two goals, while Reardon and Matt Krewson (Springfield-Montco) scored three goals and one assist each. Tyler Black was the final goal scorer for the Mighty Macs with two goals and one assist. Christian Fisher (Interboro) and Samuel Zingaro (St. Elizabeth, DE) each posted one assist.
