Denver rookie goalie Alex Ready (Manheim Township, Duke’s LC) was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week.
In his collegiate debut with the No. 1/2 Pioneers, Ready made 13 saves to hold off Air Force in an 10-9 win for the defending national champions. Like Mazzone, Ready’s performance was a league high in saves. Seven of his 13 saves came in the first quarter as Denver took a 6-2 lead. Ready was the first freshman to start in goal for Denver on opening day since Jamie Faus in 2011.
Lehigh’s Rai is Patriot Offensive POW Honorable Mention

Train scored a game-high four goals in the Mountains Hawks 13-11 loss at No. 3 Duke. The rookie netted four on just five shots and now has a total of nine goals on 10 shots this season. Rai scored the first goal for Lehigh to tie the game in the first quarter, his second in the third quarter, and the last two goals of the game at 1:30 and 0:24.
